Lipstick queen "smitten" dupe

The other day when I was doing my make up I reached for my Lipstick queen Butterfly ball lipstick in Smitten but I wasn't sure if I felt like wearing it so I took out my soap and glory sexy mother pucker gloss stick in Nudist before realising they were almost identical.

For some reason my lipstick has the wrong lid (don't ask me how!). The lipstick queen lipstick costs £22 and is really lovely, it goes on smoothly and is very moisturising. The only difference between this and the soap and glory gloss stick is the it is less glossy and it has blue glitter in it that helps make your teeth look whiter.

The Soap and Glory gloss stick in Nudist costs £8 (£14 less than the lipstick queen lipstick). It is very glossy but not sticky and it is a lovely nude colour that doesn't wash you out. The smell of these is amazing, its smells like vanilla but isn't sickly sweet. In the swatch below it looks very slightly darker than the lipstick queen lipstick, but on the lips you can't tell the difference.

left is soap and glory gloss stick in Nudist , right is lipstick queen, Smitten

Both look lovely but they are very similar so I would make the saving of £14 and go with the Soap and Glory sexy mother pucker gloss stick.

Soft coeur massage bar ~ Review

I got this the other day, after realising that I pick it up and smell it almost every time I go into lush, but have never actually bought it! This is the Soft Coeur massage bar and it costs £4.95, I love the smell of it- sweet but not sickly.

It has almond oil, honey, Shea butter and cocoa butter in it, which makes your skin really soft, as well as making it smell lovely. This is a massage bar but I have been using it as a body moisturiser and it works perfectly fine. It is oily, because it is for massages, but it sinks in so it's not uncomfortable to use. Something I really like is that the scent lingers on your skin for a while after you've used it- which means you get to smell it all day long!
The only bad thing for me is the lump of chocolate, I mean I don't really want to rub it onto my skin so I will have to pick it out, which means there was no real reason for it being there in the first place.

Have you tried any massage bars?

Everything's Peachy

Peach is my favourite fruit and scent, so it only makes sense that it is my favourite body butter too.

This is the vineyard peach body butter from the Body Shop, AKA the best smelling thing ever...
I first got this a couple of years ago as a birthday present and it is the only body butter/crème/lotion I have ever repurchased. I used to find it quite hard to buy as it was limited edition at first but they have brought it out several times now which is great.

It smells very peachy but not over sweet, the smell also lingers on the skin which is really nice. I love the texture of body butters as they are super thick but they absorb quickly which is a plus- nobody wants to have to stand up for ages whilst sticky moisturiser sinks in. This makes my skin really soft and the pot lasts for ages!

What is your favourite body moisturiser?

Skin does not stay bad forever.

This is a post to reassure anyone who is in a skin crisis, it will get better!

The first photo is of me is about 5 months ago and unfortunately around 3 months ago the amount of spots I had doubled, compared to the amount that I have in the picture. The spots were on both cheeks and my forehead, they were very large, painful spots often with white heads. I don't have a picture of when it was really bad because if I am honest the way my skin was really upset me. I felt like people would judge me on how it looked and I tried everything I could to get rid of them.

After cleansing, scrubbing and steaming my face I had pretty much given up. In the end I went to the doctor/dermatologist and got prescribed a medicine for my skin, I know this is not for everyone but it has really helped me. I did find that my skin got worse before it got better but I am now happy with my skin. I do still have marks left from the spots but they will fade with time, most importantly the surface of my skin has improved.

I wanted to write this because when my skin was at its worst I felt as if it wouldn't get better, but it did. So if anybody is in a similar situation DONT PANIC it will be fine, even if it does take time.

also in both photos I am not wearing any makeup on my skin

King of lip balms

I am a lip balm lover and have tried loads, but none come close to carmex.

yes, I bought 3

All year round I get really dry lips but especially in winter. Carmex is the only lip balm that actually heals them, instead of enhancing the dryness. I like the classic carmex in the tube or pot but there are lots of scents and even tinted ones if you want something a bit different.

any lip balm recommendations?

Why I write a diary...

As one of my resolutions I decided that I wanted to write a diary (typical, I know), I actually started a few weeks before Christmas as I thought it would help me get into it, and it has! I think the trick to keeping a diary is to not force your self into writing everyday. This means that you only write in it when you want to remember something or write down your feelings, I have actually written everyday even if it was just a sentence.

( note my very sophisticated, grown up diary choice ;) )
I think writing a diary has really helped me as I am the type of person that doesn't talk about their feelings so it helps me to write stuff down when I need to.
Also I have quite a bad memory so keeping a diary helps me remember funny moments and days out, and I like how I can reread the days and relive the memory.
I am really enjoying writing my diary and will hopefully manage to continue.

Do you write a diary?

5 product face

I was thinking about how if I got rid of all my makeup except five items what would I want them to be. So this is a post of my essentials.

1. Carmex- This is my favourite lip balm and I like the simple, no colour but glossy look it gives.

2. Concealer- Mine is hide the blemish by Rimmel and although it is probably not the best, it works well enough to cover dark circles and spots.

3. Hoola bronzer- This is a matte bronzer which not only works well as a bronzer but looks really pretty as an eye shadow (all over or in the crease).

4. Supercat eyeliner- I love doing winged eyeliner and this is a really lovely pen eyeliner that I have used for years. I also love the L'Oreal super liner perfect slim.

5. Mascara (wonderfull)- this is a really nice mascara on its own but it looks really good if you have enough time to use another mascara underneath it. I like to use a benefit mascara (I like bad gal and they're real) and then wonderfull over the top as this makes my lashes look long and full.

What would you use in a 5 product face?

where do they go?

One of my biggest life questions is "where do all my hair grips go?"

I cant be the only person that buys a pack of 50 hair grips and a month later has 3.
 My top 3 theories are:
 1. My dog eats them
2. They dissolve into my hair
3. The carpet swallows them if they get dropped on the floor.

Does any one else have the same problem?

New year, New look

This is just a little update on the design of my blog as I have decided to switch it up, and I love it!
I just think that it is more me, and that I had sort of out grown my old pink/flowery design.
Hope you all like it!

My Mac Eyeshadow Quad

last year I bought my first mac eye shadow (naked lunch) along with a quad palette. After using "naked lunch" to death I knew that I wanted to fill up the rest of my palette as my Christmas present. For Christmas my Dad got me "woodwinked" and "mystery" and my best friend got me "satin taupe" which completed my palette (omg it was so satisfying to put the last eye shadow into the empty slot)

Naked lunch- This colour works really well as a tear duct highlight, you can also use it all over the lid. It is a sort of shimmery light champagne, I use a eye shadow primer other wise it creases but this is more because I have really oily eyelids (eww).

Woodwinked- This is a really pretty bronzey-gold colour, I use this all over the lid and blend it out into the crease. When you blend woodwinked it almost transforms into a warm orange-brown which makes it look like you have used another colour in the crease, meaning you look like you have put in more effort than you have ;).

Mystery- This is a dark brown that is not warm toned, making it perfect for using in eyebrows. Although I have never filled in my eyebrows (they are super thick on their own) I tried using this with a angled brush and a light hand and I really liked it! I also use it as a crease colour and along my lash line.

Satin taupe- This is a really lovely shimmery, purple-taupe and Probably the most pigmented of all the eye shadows. I really love this as I think it makes my (brown) eyes pop. I use this all over for a stronger look or in the crease/outer corner for a more every day look.

(l-r satin taupe, mystery, wood winked, naked lunch)
I am really happy with my palette and it is the perfect size for me as well as having all the colours I need. What is your favourite mac eye shadow?

Happy new year!

Happy new year everyone!

I hope that anyone who is reading has had a lovely Christmas and will have an amazing 2015!
I feel as if this year has gone unbelievably fast and I do have some resolutions, I cant promise I can keep them but I will give it a go...

1. Try to work on my blog as often as I can, I have been rubbish this year.
2. Keep writing in the diary that I have started, I think this is a good way for me to get out my feelings, and remember funny moments/nice days
3. Try and eat lots of healthy food, I think this will probably make me feel better, and is a good idea as I have recently found out that I have anaemia and as well as taking iron tablets I need to get iron from my food.
4. Spend lots of time with people I love.
5. Try something I am scared of (not including anything to do with slugs).

do you have any new years resolutions?
